When you don’t know, you are possibly going beyond the restrictions of the duality of the mind.
Here’s a little chat about … searching, looking, being available – the middle way. Something that Buddha is said to have talked about – the middle way.
Now broadly speaking, just to generalize, we have two sorts of seekers. We have the seeker who we could call “wishy-washy,” who says they’re looking, but they’re not looking very sincerely, and they’re looking in rather a lazy way. So they go to somebody – a guru or teacher or something – and they say, tell me what’s the way or what to do and then they just do it. Now if that’s done totally, such as some of the gurus say – take every single I word as the absolute truth – that can work because it can go beyond the mind.
So there’s a story about the Zen master that says “If I say the sun rises in the west,” that’s what you take it – the sun rises in the west. And for Westerners that doesn’t work. We don’t know how to bypass our mind, so when we’re told something, we access it through the mind and if we don’t agree with it there’s a resistance there. But that’s what most followers do – they sort of say “yes,” but it a half-hearted yes – it’s not total. We need totality.
Now the other sort is the resister and they won’t believe, take anything in, unless it absolutely shows it to be so in front of them. And they’re more contracted. They’re, “Oh no, that doesn’t seem…” and what they’re doing, they’re also accessing the mind, and the mind, that works in opposites, is very restricted. So if doesn’t fit the mind, which has been conditioned a certain way, it’s “no, this is not it.”
Now both of these approaches are stuck.
What Buddha talks about is “the middle way.” So let’s look at the middle way. We have phrases like “not knowing is the most intimate.” So we don’t know. Somebody tells us something, whether it’s a guru or a teacher or we read it in the book or we just overhear a conversation, if we’re really looking, if we’re really alert, we’re there every moment for every thing. It’s not just from a guru or a teacher or a holy book, it’s anything, anybody, the bark of a dog can do it – anything. We’re present, we’re listening, and we’re available.
Now if we hear something that touches us in some way, that’s when we need to be on alert.
Now, in the two ways we were just talking about, it’s either believed or rejected. No. Neither of those. The middle way says, “Something has just touched me.” It could be either resisting it, or you’re touched in some way that says, “That means something. I don’t know what it means, but it’s touched me some way.” Both of these things – you need to be there.
First of all, if you contract, or reject it, be absolutely certain something has pushed your button. That’s something for you to look at. That is significant in your life for your evolvement. And the same with, if you get an inkling of something – you don’t know what it is, you can’t understand it but you’re touched in some way – either of these ways – be there. Be with it. Look at the possibility. And not the old way – “Do I agree, do I disagree? Do I believe or disbelieve?” – because those are the functions of the mind and they’re the … the mind is stopping you going into a deeper level.
Now what’s this deeper level? It’s beyond understanding – it’s not knowing. So when I say “not knowing,” you can have a feeling, there’s something here, “I’m connecting with something, but I can’t understand it.” If you can understand it, forget it. Because understanding is the level of the mind and we’re talking about something else.
Now this is why I’m talking about this now. There is a major change happening on this planet. I’m getting emails, I’m getting stories, I’m hearing about people that mostly are in turmoil. Their old lives no longer work. That’s one thing. But the other fascinating thing is almost everybody says the same. “But I can’t see what will. I know the old is no longer appropriate for me, but I can’t see what is the new.”
This is excellent! Because, you see, if you finish with one old thing and immediately see a new one, it’s a progression, but it’s an incremental one. It’s still part of the same level. But when you don’t know and you hang in not knowing, it’s most uncomfortable. First of all you blame yourself for not knowing, and then your friends blame you. “What are you doing messing about? Do this or do that!”
This not knowing is very uncomfortable, but there’s the opening, you see. Because as I’ve just said, if you know and you move to more knowing, you’re in the same dimension. If you no longer know, and you’re just floating around, not knowing, you’re likely to [snap!]…into the next level for yourself. Now again the mind will come in because that’s its job. It’ll check it out, say, “Oh no, that isn’t for you.” And it’ll say this isn’t for you if it can’t recognize it.
If the mind doesn’t recognize it, take a look. It means you’re going beyond the restrictions of the duality of the mind. Something new … is … happening. And we’re in the middle of it. We’re not there yet.
Many, many, many years ago, I was told by psychics, and when we were in Italy, when we used to meditate two or three times a day, we got messages come. We thought some of them were from extraterrestrials, but it doesn’t matter where they came from. And many psychics are saying the same thing. And these are the words they used: “The veils are going to drop.”
Now just stay with that a minute. Now a veil is not a wall. A veil is like a thin curtain. So we can just about see through it, but we can’t see what we can see. Like a net, thick net curtain. The veils. And I think in the East they talk about the veils as well. They’re going to drop. At the moment some of us can just sort of see through, but we can’t see what we’re seeing. The veils are going to come down.
Now we need to be ready for when they come down, because it’s going to be quite a shock. And the shock is, nothing is like we think it …or we thought it was. It’s going to be totally different. It’s going to be TOTALLY different.
The change that’s coming to the planet cannot be thought. We don’t have the experience, we don’t have the references for what’s coming. So we need to be ready.
One way I’ve talked about being ready, is to complete everything. Don’t leave anything undone. You want to go somewhere, go somewhere. You want to do something, do it. You want to buy something, meet somebody, do it – get it over with.
First of all, if you should die, and you’re complete, you’ll have a different death – you’ll just sweetly drift away. Rather than, “Oh dear, missed again.” That’s one thing. But I’m not talking about death now, except death as the old way of seeing things.
Now if you’re staying up on the web – not so much the mainstream news or documentaries, but the alternative – you’ll see that science is starting to talk about: what is out there is totally different from what we think is out there. At the moment they’re talking about there are no colors out there, we create colors within, from the vibrations. There’s no sound out there, we create sound inside. But some are now – even scientists are starting to say – maybe there’s nothing out there!
And then we come to … oh. Yeah, we come to … when Jesus says, “when the in is the out and the out is the in” – nothing out there. From the East, “when the seer and the seen are one.”
Now, you can’t understand this – the mind can’t understand this. But see if you can get a feeling. You’re not separate from everything, and nothing is separate from you. There is a … vibrational soup! And we’re all part of this soup, and having these … sensations of being separate. And we’re not as separate as we think. And this shift is coming.
Now if you get ready – complete everything – and stop looking for an absolute answer, hang in the middle way, hang in not knowing, float there, taking care of what needs to be taken care of … and floating there, and listening, and watching …
When you hear things, instead jumping to a conclusion, instead of agreeing or disagreeing, hang there and not know. And you might find, something is starting to come through to you now. Things … are … changing. And my guess is, they’re going to be absolutely fascinating!
Bye for now.
